Trzydzieści pięć lat po wydaniu przez Annę Żarnowską i Andrzeja Szwarca pierwszego z serii klasycznych już tomów "Kobieta i…" poświęcamy historii kobiet zeszyt specjalny. Autorzy artykułów przeglądowych oceniają stan badań nad historią kobiet w poszczególnych epokach, diagnozują trudności z nią związane i wysuwają własne postulaty badawcze. Inne artykuły przynoszą szczegółowe badania: nad sarkofagiem Wibii Afinii, żony cesarza Treboniana Gallusa, dyskursem zdrowia i choroby w korespondencji kobiet z rodu Radziwiłłów, pozycją prawną kobiet w Księstwie Warszawskim oraz zawodem nauczycielki w Królestwie Polskim. Zeszyt zamyka debata nad historiografią kobiet w średniowieczu. The authors of the review articles assess the state of research on the history of women in different eras, diagnose the difficulties associated with it, and put forward their own research proposals. Other articles present detailed studies: on the sarcophagus of Vibia Afinia, wife of Emperor Trebonianus Gallus, the discourse on health and illness in the correspondence of women from the Radziwiłł family, the legal status of women in the Duchy of Warsaw, and female teachers in the Kingdom of Poland. The issue concludes with a debate on the historiography of women in the Middle Ages.
